A Rare Royal Forester’s 1760/78 Pattern Flintlock Light Dragoon Pistol. With round barrel marked in the centre of the breech with two ordnance marks, a crown on the barrel tang and a ‘I’ and a crown over 12 on barrel right of the touch hole. Flat lock plate with double line border; marked Tower on tail and with engraved crown over GR cypher in the centre of the lock plate along with Ordnance stamp. Full-stocked in walnut with raised apron around the tang, stamped with inspection marks and dated ‘1786’ (small area of damage to tail of lock and around barrel pin to the left side - commensurate with age). Interestingly stamped with inspection marks in the channel and contractors name ‘EGG’. Brass furniture throughout comprising long eared butt-cap, also stamped ‘I’, side-plate, escutcheon and trigger guard. A lovely example of an incredibly rare pistol.
