A Fine Proto Mortuary Sword, Circa 1644. With broad double edged blade, cut with a shallow fuller on both sides and pointed at the tip, engraved ‘D E L REI 1644’ with a helmeted head on one side and ‘E SPADEIR….’ With a helmeted head on the other, with fluted shell-guard decorated with raised masks of the Green Man, wooden grip with original ’Turks-heads’. (Old repair to one of the branches of the guard) In fine untouched condition.
