A Superb Pair of Percussion Duelling Pistols by J. Burrow of Preston, Circa 1840. With browned twist, sighted barrels, signed in full along the top flats, ‘J. Burrow, Maker 116 Fishergate Preston’ with foliate engraved breech with double platinum lines and platinum plug, elaborately engraved barrel tangs retaining all original colour, profusely foliate engraved locks signed ‘BURROW’ the cocks decorated en suite retaining all original colour, half-stocked in walnut with horn fore-ends, complete with steel furniture comprising foliate engraved butt-caps, foliate engraved trigger guards with stylised pineapple finials retaining nearly all their original finish, blued set-triggers, horn tipped ramrods with brass turn off ramrods: in a lined and fitted case with full accessories including brass powder flask, compartment lids with brass handle, the interior of the lid with the retailers trade label, ‘Edward Whistler’ the exterior with circular flush fitting vacant brass escutcheon.  


These pistols are in outstanding original condition retaining near all of their original finish.
