A Pair of Flintlock Holster Pistols by Wilson of London, Circa 1750. With slightly swamped brass barrels signed ‘LONDON’ within a tear-drop along the top flats and stamped with London proofs and Wilsons barrel smiths mark, steel tangs decorated with scrolling foliage, signed border engraved locks decorated with sprays of foliage at the tails, full stocked in walnut with raised aprons around the tangs, engraved brass furniture comprising foliate side-plates, long eared butt capsdeocrated with shells and foliage, trigger guards decorated with star-bursts and acanthus leaf finials and turned ramrod pipes.

Richard Born 1703. Apprentice to uncle Thomas Green, 1718; Free of Gunmakers Co., 1725. Proof piece and mark, 1730. Gunmaker at the Fowler, Minories, took over business of Angus Gree, 1730. Contractor to Ordnance from 1746; East India Co., 1733-6; Hudson Bay Co., 1739. With son, William, became Richard & William Wilson & Co., 1757-9; Richard Wilson & Co., 1759-66. Died 1766.
