An English Mortuary Hilted Backsword, Circa 1640. With single edged tapering blade cut with two long deep fullers running along the back edge for almost the entire length, stamped within the fullers with the blade smiths name, ‘+ R H NNIS +’ and ‘+MLIGTNI +’ (from what I can make out) unusual solid bowl chiselled with the kings head and what appear to be images of the sun, knuckle bow and side-guards decorated en-suite, (a couple of the bars expertly replaced) with bud-shaped pommel, with original scream original grip retaining much original wire grip.
Dimensions:
Blade Length: 35.5 Inches (90.17 cm)
