A Rapier Mid 17th Century, Probably English or Dutch. With sharply tapering double edged blade of flattened hexagonal section stamped, ‘IHS’ within the narrow fuller on both sides of the blade at the forte, iron hilt comprising cup-guard of slender bars forming petals each filled with a plate pierced with trellis designs, linked by slender bars to the base of the arms, slender down scrolled quillons, later pommel with geometric engraving, with bound grip with two Turk’s heads.
