A 10-Bore Flintlock Officers ‘Man Stopper’ by Richardson of Manchester. With huge browned sighted barrel, cut with a central sighting fuller, engraved ‘MANCHESTER’, struck with Birmingham proofs below. Profusely engraved barrel tang, decorated with foliage and stands of arms. Signed, stepped, bevelled lock, with sliding safety catch and profusely engraved with scrolling foliage, retaining some original colour. Full-stocked in walnut, cut with a band of chequering at the grip (old repair to stock - wood has cracked from side-nail to the lock, it has been repaired by the addition of a wooden insert - see photographs) profusely engraved steel trigger guard, decorated with foliage and stands of arms on the bow and foliage finial, engraved ramrod pipes, with brass tipped ramrod.

Shops at London and Manchester, Lancashire. Made box-lock flintlock pocket pistols and later percussion rifled pistols with belt-hooks, and percussion holster pistols.
