A Flintlock Queen Anne Pistol by D. Wynn. With round three-stage barrel, belled at the muzzle, fitted with horn tipped ramrod beneath, stamped with London proofs and Wynns own barrel smiths mark, border engraved lock, plain tang (possibly replacement) with swelling walnut butt (again a working life replacement in my opinion) with silver grotesque ask and escutcheon. A nice early pistol.
David, Gunmaker, free of Gunmakers Co., by redemption, 1715. Paid David Wynn gunsmith in full for 3 Carbines, etc., £3 18s. 2 June 1716 (Diary fo John Hervey). Guns proved by Gunmakers Co, 1721-9. Gunmaker, par St. James, Westminster, will pr. 1729.
