A 50-Bore Flintlock Cannon Barrel Pistol by Delaney of London. With three-stage cannon barrel stamped below with London proofs and ‘TH’ (Thomas Hudson) barrel smiths mark. Profusely engraved steel box-lock action, signed ‘DELANEY’ to one side and ‘LONDON’ on the other, decorated with scrolling foliage, swelling walnut butt inlaid with scrolling silver wire (100% complete - no losses) with silver grotesque mask.

Henry Gunmaker, St. Martin-in-the-Fields, free of Gunmakers Co. by redemption, 1715. At ‘the Cross Guns in Long Acre’, 1718. Pair of Dutch pistols seized from him by Gunmakers Co., 1721. Proved 1152 muskets, 105 pairs of pistols, 8 musketoons, 1721-31. Had James Walemsly at the Green Man, Dame St., Dublin indicted as ‘a Fraud and a Cheat’ for selling arms falsely marked with his name, 1730 (Dublin Weekly Journal, 26 December). Fined £1 by Gunmakers Co. when his servant, Kirk, ’struck his Master’s Mark on four gun Barrels whereby Isaac Smith a Foreigner obtained the Free Proofe’, 1732. Workshops, Langley St. (‘Cross the Way’) Long Acre, 1722-45. Maker of fine breechloading sporting guns and silver mounted pistols; also large crossbow with built in cranequin.
