A Fine English Rapier, Circa 1640. With slender tapering double edged blade of flattened diamond section, with a deep central fuller on both sides, pierced with four gaps and dots, also with what appears to be the blade smiths name, iron hilt comprising shallow cup-guard chiselled with foliage and fruit against a punched back-ground, outer side ring above chiselled and decorated en suite, linked to the knuckle guard with down curved bar decorated with a fish, the knuckle-guard screwed to the pommel with elaborate scrolling screw, one straight quillon, one down-turned with bud-shaped terminals, globular pommel engraved with foliage, with button terminal, original spirally twist grip bound with copper wire between Turk’s heads.
