A Crisp Percussion Blunderbuss by Simmons, With belled steel barrel retaining all of its original brown and stamped at the breech with Birmingham proofs, foliate engraved tang, Singed foliate engraved lock and cock, full stocked in walnut, cut with a band of chequering at the grip and retaining its original varnish, vacant brass escutcheon, foliate engraved steel mounts comprising butt plate, trigger guard with pineapple finial and ramrod pipes, brass tipped ramrod with concealed worm. A lovely blunderbuss in untouched condition. 


Notes

ID 2751 and ID 2752 came from the same collection. They are almost identical in every respect, other than of course one is flintlock and the other is percussion.

Joseph [1802-1845] Made flintlock fowling pieces and later double barrelled percussion pistols (double barrels bored from one piece of steel). Shop in Birmingham.
