A Crisp Pair of Flintlock Queen Anne Pistols by T. Jones, Circa 1750. With three-stage round turn off barrels, stamped at the breech with London proofs and Jones own barrel smith mark, decorated with scrolling foliage and stamped ‘LONDON’, with foliate engraved tangs.  Border engraved box-lock actions, cocks and frizens,. Swelling figured walnut butts carved in relief with foliage behind the barrel tang. Cast and chased silver mounts comprising side-plate, vacant escutcheons with martial trophies and grotesque mask butt caps, stamped with Silver Smiths mark JA - Jeremiah Ashley.

Thomas. Apprenticed to John Hall, 1724; free of Gunmakers CO., 1742. Proof piece and mark, 1744. Gunmaker, corn hill, died 1760 when son, Thomas made free. 

Thomas. Apprenticed to father, 1746; free of Gunmakers CO., 1760. Gunmaker, ‘At the Cross Guns in Cornhill near ye Royal Exchange’ (trade card from 1760). May have worked earlier at Fenchurch Lane. Continued to use father’s mark, noted on pistol hall-marked 1777.
