With round turn-off barrel decorated with a band of foliage at the muzzle and a geometric design at the breech, singed; TATHAM LONDON’ underneath the pan to the left, stamped with Birmingham proofs, ‘Screwless’ frame beautifully engraved with martial trophies and foliage, fitted with engraved sliding safety catch that also locks the pan, cock decorated with serpents head , slab sided walnut grip with vacant rectangular escutcheon.

Gunmaker & Sword Cutler, 37 Charing Cross, 1800-33 (in partnership with Joseph Egg as Tatham & Egg at same address, 1801-14). Also at 60 Firth St., Soho, 1805-8. Supplied Ordnance with Malaysian ‘Cresses’ (Kris) 1801; presented rifles for Indian Chiefs, 1816. Died 1835. Succeeded by his son Henry.
