A Cased Pair of Percussion Officers Pistols by Chance, London. With browned, sighted, octagonal barrels, signed along the top-flat, case-hardened breeches decorate with foliate engraving, foliate engraved tangs, signed, foliate engraved back-action locks retaining traces of original colour, half-stocked in walnut cut with a band of chequering at the grip, steel mounts comprising trigger guard and ramrod pipes, with white metal tipped ramrods: in original case with accessories including powder flask and turn-screw, the exterior with flush fitting escutcheon. In good clean order.

William Merchant, Birmingham, 1777-80. Became Chance & Homer, then William Chance & Sons, 1812-21. Sold guns marked ‘LONDON’.
