A Cased Pair of Double Barrel Travelling Pistols by Alex Martin, Glasgow. With case-hardened octagonal sighted barrels made in one piece, each engraved with a foliate band around the muzzle and signed along the flat simulated rib, breeches decorated with foliate scrollwork, border engraved case-hardened actions and dolphin hammers decorated en suite, finely chequered figured rounded butts each with case-hardened ovoidal butt-cap with hinged circular butt-trap cover engraved with foliate scrollwork centred on a flower-head, vacant silver escutcheons, blued trigger-guards each decorated en suite with the actions, blued triggers and under-ribs, stirrup ramrods each engraved with a flower-head on the tip, and retaining nearly all their original finish: in original lined and fitted mahogany case with some accessories including powder-flask, steel bullet mould, oil bottle etc (the trade label a replacement). In superb condition overall.
