With browned twist two-stage sighted barrel, patent breech with platinum plug, gold line and with gold makers stamp’ ‘MANTON & SON LONDON’ foliate engraved tang, engraved flat lock with rainproof pan, roller frizen, figured walnut half-stock with chequered grip, engraved iron mounts, horn fore-end cap, silver escutcheon and barrel bolt escutcheons, and brass mounted ramrod with worm; in relined mahogany case with accessories including powder flask and wad-cutter, the lid with John Manton trade label, the exterior with flush fitting brass carrying handle.
5832 - Single Barrel 15 Bore Shotgun - Owned by F. Bubear, "The cock is of the French type, and the touch-hole is lined with platinum. The stamp on the breech has on it the inscription "Manton & Son London†indicating that John Manton’s son, George Henry, had joined his father in the business at this time.â€
