A 1796 Pattern Heavy Cavalry Troopers Sword by Bate, Marked to the 7th Dragoon Guards. With straight single edged blade with original ‘hatchet point’, stamped with Military inspection marks and stamped with the makers name along the back edge, steel hilt with pierced circular guard adapted in the field, wooden grip overlaid with leather (wire binding now missing) complete with an original steel scabbard with two hanging rings. The knuckle guard is cut with the regimental markings A22 D7G and the scabbard is cut with A28 D7G. A fine example of a scarce sword.
