A Pair of Early Duelling Pistols by Newton of Grantham. With sighted round barrels, engraved along the top flat, ‘Grantham’ in script and stamped at the breech with Newtons proofs and barrel smith marks and fitted with a standing rear-sight, profusely engraved tangs, stepped bevelled locks, signed in script, (old repair to one cock) slender full stocks cut with chequering to the side of the grips, oval escutcheons engraved with the original owners crest and initials, an arm grasping a serpent with the initials ‘J.L.’ steel furniture comprising trigger guards decorated with foliage on the bow and acorn finials, turned ramrod pipes and brass tipped ramrods (one rod a loading rod).
