A Large Blunderbuss by T. Monck
A Large Brass Barrelled Blunderbuss by T. Monck of Stamford. With round barrel, belled at the muzzle and stamped at the breech with London proofs and Moncks own barrel smith mark, it is also stamped ’T MONCK’ and ‘STAMFORD’ and decorated with a geometric line, border engraved tang decorated with scrolling foliage, signed border engraved lock decorated with a spray of foliage at the tail, cock decorated en-suite, full-stocked in walnut with a raised moulding around the tang, engraved steel mounts comprising border engraved side-plate decorated with foliage, foliate engraved butt-plate and trigger guard decorated with a flower head on the bow and acorn finial, the tail of the trigger guard appears to be signed, but unfortunately, the signature is rubbed, turned brass ramrod pipes with a horn tipped ramrod.
