A Very Good Snider Carbine. With sighted round barrel, with bayonet lug and ladder sight towards the breech, retained by two barrel bands, pivoting breech stamped with ‘III’ and War Department marks at the breech, paling tang stamped ‘E I 550’, chained nipple protector, border engraved flat lock stamped, ‘B.S.A. Co.’ And ‘1872’ with crowned ‘VR’ at the tail and various War Department marks, figured three-quarter stock stamped throughout with numerous W.D. marks and ‘1’, regulation brass mounts, the tang of the butt cap stamped with W.D. marks and ‘V EC 1 550’ with original steel sling loops, original ramrod also stamped ‘V EC 1 550’.
