An 1827 Pattern Naval Officers Sword
An 1827 Pattern Naval Officers Sword, by J. Freideberg No. 4451. With slightly curved single edge blade, double edged towards the point, cut with a deep central fuller and etched with scrolling foliage to both sides, framing the royal arms on one side and a crowned fouled anchor on the other, the ricasso with the retailers details on one side and a ‘proved’ mark on the other, stamped with the number ‘4451’ along the back-edge, regulation brass hilt of simulated bars incorporating a crowned fouled anchor in an oval, hinged side-guard, lion head pommel and back-piece in one, wire-bound fish skin covered grip, and bullion sword-knot, in original black leather scabbard with linear engraved brass mounts and two rings for suspension.
