A Good Pair of Carbine Bore Flintlock Officers Pistols by D.Egg, London. With sighted round barrels engraved D.Egg London in script along the top flats, fitted with rear-sights towards the tangs, foliate engraved tangs, border engraved flat bevelled locks each engraved en suite on the stepped tail, with sliding safety catches that also lock the pans, highly figured walnut stocks cut with characteristic chequering around the butts, border engraved steel mounts, one pistol retaining most original finish, the other retaining traces, comprising rounded butt-caps each with a flower head entered on the retaining screw, trigger guards decorated with a shield surrounded by foliage and with French style pineapple finials, turned ramrod pipes with horn-tipped ramrods: in an associated case lined and fitted in green baise with accessories including three-way flask, turn screw and bullet mould, the interior of the lid with a D. Egg London trade label, the exterior of the lid with flush fitting carrying handle engraved, ‘ALEX R PEARSON’.
