An Incredibly Scarce Dual Ignition Pistol
An Incredibly Rare Rifled Lacy & Co Dual Ignition Pistol. With rifled, sighted octagonal barrel, engraved breech inlet with a gold poinçonné, foliate engraved tang incorporating rear-sight, border engraved lock, fitted with a sliding safety and signed, ‘LACY & CO PATENT’ the lock with a highly unusual rotating flintlock pan that transforms into a percussion nipple, the cock with both a flint hammer and percussion hammer fitted beneath, half-stocked in walnut, cut with chequering at the grip, engraved steel mounts comprising spurred trigger guard decorated with sprays of foliage and pineapple finial, steel ramrod pipes, with wooden ramrod.
Shop in London. Made flintlock holster pistols and flintlock muskets under Royal Government Contract. Later made double barrel, over and under, percussion pistols with swivel ramrods and belt hooks. Name changed to Lacey & Reynolds from 1840 to 1853. Made percussion pepperboxes.
