A Scarce Early Flintlock Holster Pistol by J. White. With round three-stage barrel slightly swamped, cut with a sighting groove at the breech, stamped with London proofs and barrel smiths mark, ‘IW’ within a diamond, (John White 3) border engraved tang cut with sighting groove, banana lock signed under the pan, ‘J. White’ and engraved with splashes of foliage, cock decorated en-suite, frizen engraved with acanthus leaf, full stocked in walnut and with raised mouldings around the pan, tang and ramrod channel, engraved brass furniture comprising scrolling side-plate, long-eared butt-cap decorated with foliage and grotesque mask, plain trigger guard with acanthus leaf finial, and turned ramrod pipes with wooden ramrod. An incredibly scarce early pistol.
