An Early Pistol

A 14-Bore Flintlock Holster Pistol by T. Gregory Of London, Circa 1710. With three-stage barrel stamped with London Proofs and Barrel Smiths mark, plain tang cut with a sighting groove, signed border engraved banana lock,  figured walnut full-stock (minor repair at the muzzle) cast and chased brass mounts, comprising pierced foliate scroll side-plate, vacant escutcheon, spurred pommel with grotesque mask, moulded trigger-guard with trefoil finial, baluster ramrod-pipes, and horn-tipped ramrod.

Thomas Son of Nathan, free of Gunmakers Co., by patrimony, 1706. Elected Assistant, 1723; Master, 1729. Gunmaker to East India Co., 1717-32.
