An Early English Broadsword, Circa 1690

With straight double edged blade of flattened diamond section, brass hilt comprising short down-curved quillon with flattened globular terminal, inner and outer ring guards each interrupted by a central moulding, the plates each chiselled with Daphne the goddess of the hunt, knuckle guard interrupted by the figure of Daphne, spherical pommel chiselled with a woodland scene also depicting Daphne, and original wooden grip retaining 'Turks heads' contained in a tooled, leather bound wooden scabbard.
