A North European Braodsword, Circa 1640
A Northern European Broadsword, Circa 1640. With double edged tapering blade stamped with an 'S' at the forte, iron hilt comprising down-turned scrolling quillon, frontal bar and knuckle guard each interrupted by a swelling, inner and outer ring-guard decorated with pierced plates, thumb-ring, oval pommel (patinated throughout) and a carved wooden grip.
